Beautiful Balustrades
Glass balustrading is a key feature in many architectural designs, however, the 2006 revision of AS1288 deemed existing products unsafe in applications more than 1m off the ground. To comply, bulky load bearing hand rails which obstruct views are used. Thin aluminium capping strips have been used by some installers, but are not compliant due to their inability to carry the loads specified by AS1170.
Sky Glass is a premium solution. Sky Glass remains strong and intact even when shattered. It doesn’t slump or fall from the opening – Sky Glass is a safe and reliable frameless balustrading.
Architectural Applications
Sky Glass is versatile. Using toughened glass plus a structural interlayer means stronger, lighter glass allowing increased span or loadings. Sky Glass extends design possibilities for facades, curtain walls, overhead glazing, pools, floors and doors.
Superior fragment retention and rigidity after breakage makes overhead glazing applications safer by reducing the risk of fall through, or falling glass.
Engineered Quality
Sky Glass builds on the properties of conventional custom laminates with the use of innovative processing techniques and interlayer technology.
Manufactured in a purpose built factory, utilising state of the art European equipment, problems of delaminating, hazing and edge finish have been resolved. Designers can confidently use Sky Glass in external, coastal, residential and the most demanding commercial applications. Sky Glass allows designers to meet aesthetic requirements without compromising safety.
Every Sky Glass installation is custom engineered to suit the application and supplied with an Engineers Letter of Compliance to AS1288 and the BCA.
