Solarshield is a high performance laminate, combining Low E glass and a solar absorbing interlayer. Low emissivity means significant reductions in heat loss while the interlayer provides solar control without the use of tints for light, bright and efficient results. Delivering both daylight and heat control, Solarshield is a sophisticated laminated window glass designed for commercial and large scale residential projects.
Available in clear, neutral, green and grey, Solarshield offers the freedom of colour and performance, with the strength of a Grade A safety glass.
Points to Note:
Condensation:
Solarshield is not designed to prevent surface condensation. Should this occur the insulating properties will be reduced. Insulglass IGU’s are recommended in these instances.
Cleaning & Handling:
Solarshield requires additional care when handling, installing and cleaning. Please click here for a copy of our cleaning and handling recommendations.
Thermal Stress:
All performance glass may also be subject to thermal stress, and we recommend a thermal assessment analysis is carried out. This assessment considers glass type, frame type, glazing method. To confirm if the glass selected for your project is at risk of thermal stress, please complete the attached questionnaire, and fax to (03) 9730 7488.
Edge Protection:
Laminated glass products must be glazed to protect the interlayer from direct exposure to the elements. Water and moisture can affect the interlayer, causing product breakdown and potentially impact on the structural integrity. Incorrect glazing will also void any warranties.
Low E Coating:
Solarshield has a special coating that provides thermal and solar properties, and therefore does not have the same appearance or surface as regular float glass. A small degree of haze may be observed under certain light conditions.
