When it comes to noise, you need to make sure you know what type of noise you want to block. Base noise travels on a low frequency Hertz (Hz) while treble noise travels on a high frequency Hertz (Hz).

For this reason, it is important to note that the Weighted Average ‘Rw’ figures alone can be misleading if you do not identify the exact noise offender/s and look at the matching decibel (dB) blocking factor for that frequency range.

Low frequency noise can travel through solid objects more easily than high frequency noise. This is why we normally hear the base sounds vibrate through solid objects. When it comes to glass in windows and doors, Mass (thicker glass make-ups) is best for blocking low frequency noise while Acoustic Laminate is ideal for blocking high frequency noise. Combine the two when wanting to block a full range of different noise offenders.
